Welcome to Troop 71!
Be sure to visit our Troop 71 website for the latest news and information about troop activities.
Troop 71 is chartered by the Aley United Methodist Church.
The troop is very active with a wide range of activities selected by the Scouts themselves. From the annual Five-Mile Hike and Overnight Campout, to the Electronics Lock-In, to rock climbing, to Philmont and other high adventure trips, and Merit Badge trail drives, this group has something for every Scout.
Troop 71 is made up of six patrols -- five for the Scouts themselves and a sixth for the adult members. The five Scout patrols are Anaconda, Eagle, Nightstalker, Phoenix, and Stingray. The adults all belong to the Jurassic patrol.
Meetings are held each Tuesday of the month from 7:00 until 8:30 PM, with the first Tuesday reserved for the Patrol Leaders Conference (PLC). As the name implies, the PLC is intended for patrol leadership only. On all other Tuesdays of the month, the Scouts meet in the Scout Hut, while parents conduct a separate meeting in the Fellowship Hall of the main Aley UMC building.
The Troop 71 committee typically meets on the Monday after the Patrol Leaders Conference. All registered Troop 71 adults are, by default, committee members and are invited to attend the committee meetings. Many parents, however, elect to attend only the "regular" Tuesday parents' meeting.
Again, welcome to Troop 71!
