Trek Description
The St. George Paddle Trek is an immersive Catholic retreat in the wilderness setting of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW). Each crew is limited to nine total, youth and adult, including a spiritual director (priest, deacon or seminarian) and adult leaders/guides. This is a serious wilderness trek with intense physical demands: please read and understand the risk statement attached to this application and provide it to your health care provider. Participants will participate in daily scripture readings and guided introspection into their role as a Catholic young adult. Daily periods of silence and prayer will be interspersed with the demands and camaraderie of a wilderness trek. Participants, as in any High Adventure trek, must possess solid camping skills, including the principles of Leave No Trace. Participants must also obtain suitable personal clothing and equipment for this trek. Use the gear list attached for guidance. Adult leaders/guides have the final say on the suitability of personal equipment. Trek departs and returns to the Dayton area, and includes a two-day drive to the BWCAW, five days on the water, and a 2 day drive back.
