Accept Credit Cards during your Popcorn sale

Tecumseh Council Boy Scout units can now accept credit cards with the help of an easy-to-use feature that can be plugged into your iPhone, Android or an iPad.

Square is the simplest way to accept credit cards. 

It’s easy to use and comes with a free credit card reader for your phone or iPad. Sign-up is quick. No complicated contracts, monthly fees, or merchant account. 

When you swipe cards with Square there is just one fee: 2.75%. Download the free app from the Android MarketExternal Link or iTunes App StoreExternal Link. Square is currently available in the U.S.

What is Square?

Square is the easiest way to get paid. The free app enables you to accept credit cards quickly and easily using your mobile device or iPad.

When you sign up for a Square account and download the app, you'll receive a card reader to you for free. 

The fees are simple. When you swipe cards with Square: 2.75%. If you enter credit card numbers manually, Square costs 3.5% + 15¢ per transaction. 

There are no complicated contracts, monthly fees or merchant account. When you want to know how much money you’ve made, you no longer have to wade through a complex maze of hidden costs and fees.

How do you accept credit cards with the Square reader?

Accepting cards with Square is simple! Here's how to use your card reader to take payments:

  1. Sign up and activateExternal Link your Square account if you haven't already.
  2. Open the app on your phone by tapping the Square icon: 
  3. Plug the card reader into your 3.5mm headphone jack.
  4. Input the amount and item description for your payment. If you have an iPad, you can select a pre-made item from your item libraryExternal Link by swiping the keypad to the left.

  5. Swipe quickly and smoothly, making sure the black magnetic strip is facing the thick end of the reader. 
  6. Once you see the signature screen, have your customer sign with their finger.
  7. Tap "Continue" and input your customer's phone number or email address to deliver a receipt. 
    Tip: You can always find your payment history by viewing your account in the app or on your PaymentsExternal Link page. 
  8. You'll see the final Thank You screenExternal Link after the payment is completed. You're done!
