Scouts of All Ages Needed for the 9-11 Memorial Dedication at Freedom Grove

Join an historical occasion at Freedom Grove Park in Urbana, corner of U.S Route 68 and State Route 55, where a steal beam from the World Trade Center is being mounted and flanked by a pair of large stars for dedication as a monument.

Boy Scouts are being asked to line the walkway and semicircle around the permanent display prior to the ceremony.  Organizers have ordered 500 American flags so each Scout can hold one as visitors walk in.

Scouts will need to be in uniform and will need to arrive between 12:45-1 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 11.  The ceremony is set to begin at 2 p.m.

Scouts will be dismissed after the Pledge of Allegiance to sit with their parents or unit for the dedication ceremony which is to last just about an hour.

This is a terrific opportunity for Scouts to show their citizenship and provide service for a community event.
