Scouting for Food Made a Big Impact in our Five Counties - Thank You for Participating

The Tecumseh Council, Boy Scouts of America Food Drive is the largest one day food collection effort in the area.  This year the service project collected 89,792 pounds of food.  The good turn project collects food for people in need in Clark, Greene, Champaign, Logan and Clinton Counties.  The Scouts mission was to collect as many items as possible and fill local pantries.

The Scouts collected the food by going door to door and then dropped off the food at various pantries throughout the region.  Food pantries supported by Scouting include, The Second Harvest Food Bank, The Interfaith Hospitality Network, Honey Creek Presbyterian Church, Faith in Christ Lutheran Church and Enon Relief in Clark County.  In Champaign County the Scouts donated their food to The Caring Kitchen, St. Paris United Methodist Church and The Free Will Baptist Church.  In Clinton County the donated items were taken to My Father’s Kitchen.  Logan County Scouts donated their items to the Our Daily Bread pantry.  Greene County items were taken to Beavercreek FISH, Xenia FISH, Fairborn FISH, the Jamestown Food Pantry, the Bellbrook/Sugarcreek Food Pantry and the Wright State University Friendship Food pantry.

A few highlights from this year’s effort include over 10,000 pounds collected and donated to the Fairborn FISH pantry and over 5000 pounds donated to the Beavercreek FISH food pantry.  Also in Enon, Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts and 4-H members worked together to collect over 2800 pounds for the local Enon Relief pantry.

The Dayton Power and Light Company donated the necessary funds to have the bags printed for all local residents, without their help the project would not have collected so much food for people in need.
