This weekend is a chance for all Scouts, Cub Scouts, Venturers, and Scouters to give back to Camp Birch for a few hours, earn rank advancements, and enjoy a weekend of free tent camping.

Plans are now finalized for advancement opportunities for Cub and Boy Scouts at Restore and Explore Weekend.  Cub Scouts will be able to work on requirements towards Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Saturday from 1:00-3:00 PM.  Click HERE for a complete list of possible advancements.  Please register for classes when you check in Friday or Saturday.  You will receive a detailed schedule with class locations.

Boy Scouts will have the opportunity to earn either Architecture or Landscape Architecture merit badge.  CYP Studios of Dayton, Ohio is providing councilors.  This is a great chance for Scouts to work with certified professionals and participants will help design the proposed new conservation lodge at Camp Birch.  Class size is limited to a total of 20.  Please e-mail Nick Scovanner at [Click for member's page] to pre-register.  Scouts should bring a notebook and pencil, blue card, and a merit badge book.  Classes will meet at the maintenance building Friday night from 7:30-9:00 PM and Saturday from 12:30-4:00.

Scouts will also be able to earn requirements towards Forestry merit badge.  Please register for this class Friday night at check-in.  Classes will meet Saturday for 1:00-3:00 PM at Carmony Lodge.  Scouts should bring a notebook and pencil, blue card, and merit badge book.

Friday, Nov. 11, units will gather at 8 p.m. at the Turner Center for a brief meeting, hot drinks, and a night hike.  On Saturday, Nov. 12, our goal is to clear invasive species from various areas throughout camp.

In 2011 we will be concentrating on Baden Powell campsite, the swimming pool, Miami Campsite, and other areas in the northwest part of camp.  Crews will also work on last year’s project area removing any new growth that has sprouted.  Crews will work from 9-12 with the assistance of the Conservation Committee and Ranger Staff.

At 1 p.m., Units will have the opportunity to work on rank advancements with the Camp Birch naturalist Staff and the Conservation Committee.

All Scouts are welcome, and an overnight is not required.

Please register on line or complete the attaché registration sheet and return it to the Council Service Center if you plan to attend.
