A Message from the Nelson Family

To: Tecumseh Council Executive Board, Annual Dinner Planning Committee, Professional Scouters, Volunteers, and Scouts

Our family wants to truly thank Tecumseh Council for the outpouring of support and friendship since Bill/Dad’s passing, including the June ceremonies that honored him at Camp Birch and the council annual recognition dinner.  We are so appreciative and moved that a simple message does not convey our feelings.

Bill/Dad loved Scouting and everything about it.  He loved what it represents and the lifelong skills and values it develops in adult and youth participants.  He loved the times spent teaching, training, camping, and interacting with youth and adult scouters.  Those times gave him friendships with individuals of all ages that he had for decades.

The council recognition dinner and Camp Birch dedication were very special for us.  He was so proud to be involved in Woodbadge – especially as a member of the fox patrol – as well as being part of the council’s annual recognition dinner.  Aside from the opportunity for him to deliver his beloved Boys’ Life jokes during the evening of the recognition dinner, it was a time to publicly recognize the hard work and accomplishments of adult volunteers and youth participants – all of which he strongly felt were the foundation for future success of Tecumseh Council, the Scouting movement, the community, and our country.

Bill/Dad truly cherished every moment of his time with Scouting – as an executive, scoutmaster, and volunteer.  We’re honored that he will forever be a part of Tecumseh Council and Camp Birch.

Sincerely,

Jo Anne, Scott, and Beth Nelson
