Join the fun at National Jamboree

Fellow Scouters and Jamboree Volunteers,

As you are all aware our next National Scout Jamboree will be held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.  This promises to be not only the inaugural Jamboree at The Summit but also a vast expansion of the opportunities and experiences for the youth that will participate.

I have recently been informed that you were initially a volunteer for Unit Leadership at the Jamboree.  I wish to offer you the opportunity to experience the Jamboree with the youth that will be attending by becoming a member of the High Adventure Program staff.  Our activities will include the following:

            Aerial Sports – Climbing/Bouldering

            Aerial Sports – Canopy/Zip/Challenge Courses

Aquatics – Scuba, Kayak, Dragon Boats, Mariner Adventure, Stand Up

Paddleboard, and Water Reality

Conservation/Nature – Astronomy, Geocaching, Nature, Fishing, and

                        Conservation studies and activities

Extreme Sports – BMX Bikes, Skate, Mountain Biking, Mountain Boarding

Off-site Outfitter Experience – White Water Rafting and Technical Climbing

Target Sports – Archery and Shooting

In these vast and diverse areas I’m certain there is a place for you to become an integral part of making this Jamboree the first time, exciting event that it will be for both staff and participants.  I encourage you to go to the web-site and learn more about each of these activities.

The staff registration process is simple and self-explanatory.  However, I am told that if you have completed the registration as a Unit Leader you need to rescind that and re-register for the staff position of your choices.  Please make use of the information available and sign-up to become a part of this historical event in Scouting.

Yours In Scouting,

Mike Lyster
