Disabilty Awareness Kit

Compassion is a trait we wish to instill for all Cub Scouts. A couple years ago, Pack 36 put on a pack meeting program geared towards disability awareness. With a few simple props, cubs and siblings rotate through stations designed to simulate some common disabilities dealing with sight, finger/hand dexterity, and mobility. A kit has been assembled and will be at the scout store for any unit that wishes to use this for your program. Safety glasses with marred lenses, gloves, twine, earplugs, and a list of “games”, as well as a full pack meeting program are included with this kit. If anyone feels the need to add/improve this kit, please do. The purpose of this program is to allow the cubs and siblings to experience some of the challenges many people face every day. While this will surely bring laughter, leaders can take the time to explain the seriousness of these limitations.
