Tecumseh Council CyberPatriot Cybersecurity Team

The Air Force Association Foundation has recently opened the CyberPatriot cybersecurity competition to scout units.  CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program.  At the center of CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition.  In the rounds of competition teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cybersecurity vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services in a six hour period.  Teams compete for the top placement within their state and region, and the top teams in the nation earn all-expenses paid trips to Washington, DC for the National Finals Competition where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money.  See link below for additional information. Brian Kowal (BSA Triple Crown Awardee) who is the Lead CyberPatriot Coach at the Dayton Regional STEM School (DRSS) would like to establish a Scout CyberPatriot program.  Last year his DRSS team placed second in Ohio.  If interested please contact Mr Kowal at [Click for member's page] or 937-431-9313.  Depending upon the number of scout participants the team fee would range from $35 to $70.  Team technical mentors may include Air Force Institute of Technology cybersecurity instructors and Wright State University staff members.  The scouts should complete all the requirements for the digital technology and programming merit badges during the competition.
