Council Scout blasts off into space

On Monday, May 16, at 9 a.m., Gregory H. Johnson, a Tecumseh Council Eagle Scout, class of 1978, piloted the Space Shuttle Endeavor on its final mission.

 

 

Mr. Johnson graduated from Park Hills High School in Fairborn in 1980 and went on the Air Force Academy.

 

 

He will spend the next 2 weeks in space as the mission pilot. 

He became an Eagle Scout on July 19, 1978, and was a member of Troop 162, which at the time was chartered at Wright Patterson Air Force Base

 

 

He graduated at the top of his class from Park Hills High School in Fairborn, which has since become Fairborn High School.

 

 

This is the second time he has piloted a mission into space, his first mission began on Nov. 3, 2008.  He was selected by NASA to enter the astronaut training program in 1998.

 

 

This will be the final flight of the Space Shuttle Endeavor.
