Eagle Scout Scholarships from Sons of the American Revolution

Eagle Scouts are honored and supported by many groups. One group is the Sons of the American Revolution, which every year gives about $50,000 in checks to the current year's crop of Eagles. The contest starts on the local level, with SAR chapters in Dayton and Springfield and other cities, where the best of the applicants goes to the Ohio SAR state level and then to the SAR national level -- lesser amounts are typically awarded to local winners, but the national prize is ten thousand dollars. You must be an Eagle Scout, you must be under 19, you must file the application -- see the SAR website at sar.org. The application asks about Scouting, school, community and religious activities, and asks for a short essay and a short genealogy chart applications are due at the end of the month. Your Eagle can be from any year, but you must be under 19.
