Reservations Now Open for 2018 Boy Scout Summer Camp

Tecumseh Council Camp Birch doesn’t expect a lot from our units, but we invest a lot of time, money, blood, sweat, and tears into making camp accessible for year round camping. We keep our doors open due to the revenue brought in at Boy Scout Resident Camp. We have been told our programs are outstanding and our staff exceptional. We received feedback concerning our Shotgun range, our restrooms, and even the quality of food served at camp. We responded with building a new Shotgun Range and developing plans for a new restroom facility. We changed food providers and improved the quality of food at Camp. You talked and we listened.

Thank you to those Troops that attend Boy Scout Summer Camp with us each year. We truly admire your loyalty to your Council and Camp Birch.

In order for us to budget properly for 2018 Boy Scout Summer Camp, we encourage your Troop to make a commitment to attend Boy Scout Summer Camp in 2018. Please sign up today! Please make a $100 deposit on a campsite and estimate the number of Scouts cementing your commitment for 2018. We ask this even if you are attending Summer Camp this year.

To reserve your campsite for 2018, please visit http://www.tecumsehcouncilbsa.org/Events/2018BoyScoutSummerCamp and click the orange “Register” button on the right hand side of the page for the week you wish to attend. If your Troop is attending Camp Birch this year, and still has the $100 deposit on file, please contact [Click for member's page] to have the deposit transferred from 2017 to 2018.

We can’t run a Summer Camp during the 2018 year without you. We are holding steady on our camp fee of $245/youth participant for next year. We know this makes us one of the most inexpensive camps in the region if not the most inexpensive. It is the commitment from the Executive Board to keep the cost down is why we can offer this low of a rate.

2018 will mark the 80th Anniversary of Camp Birch. Help us make it a fantastic summer to remember for all of our Scouts. Camp isn’t just the land where Scouts gather. It’s the people, it’s the program. The feeling you get when you gather under the stars with your friends after a long day earning your merit badges. It’s the singing in the Dining Hall, the meals shared, the memories you make, the campfires you attend.

Camp Hugh Taylor Birch is our camp. We’ve been going around promoting that the best Troops we’ve seen provide the boys in their Troop different options. We expect all of our Troops want to be the best for their youth. Those strongest Troops always send their first year campers to their home Council’s camp and they have a high adventure program outside of that to a national high adventure base or to another Council’s camp. We strongly urge you to do that. If you don’t have the adults to support both, please trust us with delivering a quality program through the provisional camper program and the first year camper program.

We have revamped the program slightly for 2018. Every Troop that attends Summer Camp 2017 will be the first to experience the new incentive program with one free weekend of tent camping to kick off this new program. The incentive program is a free tent camping weekend at Camp Birch for your Troop (excludes program events) for every 10 youth that attend Summer Camp. The free weekend(s) will be valid for the remainder of that program year.  It will start new at the beginning of summer camp the following year.

We look forward to seeing you in the summer of 2018! Help us make memories at Camp Birch for another 80 years.

Sincerely,

Rob Lavoie                           Kent Rosenbaum
