Tecumseh Council 2013 National Jamboree Troop

Tecumseh Council National Jamboree Troop taking shape

The National Scout Jamboree is Scouting's flagship event and you can be part of the inaugural event with other Scouts from Tecumseh Council as we travel to The Summit: Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, along the New River Gorge.

The Jamboree is a one-of-a-kind gathering of approximately 45,000 Scouts, leaders and staff. Over the course of 10 summer days (July 15-24, 2013), participants will experience a showcase event of everything which is great about the Boy Scouts of America.

Go Big! Get Wild! is the theme of the next Jamboree and it should be an amazing experience. Programs at the Jamboree will run from daylight to dark. Whitewater sports, zip line canopy tours, climbing and the rest of the action will make up a huge part of the experience.

This event will also mark a first with Venture Scouts being welcomed as official Crews. Tecumseh Council has been allotted one Venture Patrol (8 members, 2 adults) and this Crew will be grouped with other Venture Crews in Venture dedicated subcamps.

Another great feature to the next Jamboree is there will be no need to bring all that unit gear. Units and staff will be provided with tents and cots (units get tables, dining flys, and cooking gear, too). A BSA travel duffel will be sent out ahead of time for packing personal items.

Register today and be part of this tremendous experience. The estimated fee is between $1,300-$1,500 for each Tecumseh Council contingent member. This fee is dependent on what the local contingent Scouts determine to have as its tour plan.

How to Register:

  1. Go to www.bsaExternal Linkjamboree.orgExternal Link;
  2. Participants create a free individual account. A parent of a potential participant also registers for a free account, then link their Scout's account to theirs, before giving final approval.
  3. Print out and complete the "2013 NSJ Request to Attend Form" to the Tecumseh Council Scout Shop along with your $100 non-fundable deposit.

Jamboree forms for registration are also available online here by clicking on the "DETAILS" link above and then "RESOURCES"; as well as at the Scout Shop and on the bsajamboree.orgExternal Link website or CLICK HERE for pdf file for registration.
