Cub Scout Spook-O-Ree

October 15-17, 2021

Join us at Camp Birch for our BIGGEST Cub Scout event of the year which includes a weekend of camping! Don’t want to camp…that’s ok…just come out on Saturday for all of the FUN! Activities include BB guns, archery, giant sling shots, carnival games, haunted trail, and face painting.  Halloween costumes (Scouting appropriate) are encouraged. There will be a costume contest and parade with treats along the way! Finish off your day of FALL FUN at our campfire and dance party! Exhausted - in the best of ways - kids are a guarantee!

$20 per youth & $10 per adult if registered by October 8, 2021.

Cost includes lunch on Saturday, event patch, activities and camping all weekend. All youth must be accompanied by an adult.

Event Details

Cost: $20 per youth and $10 per adult if paid by October 8 (youth under 5 years old are free). All registrations after October 8 will be taken at the door and will incur a $5 per person late fee. Payments will be non-refundable.

Registration: is being taken on the Tecumseh Council website. Click the orange "Register" button on the right of this page.

Price Includes: lunch on Saturday, event patch, activities and camping all weekend.

Activities: BB guns, archery, giant sling shots, carnival games, haunted trail, face painting, Halloween parade and costume contest. 

FULL! Climbing Tower: To avoid long wait times for the Scouts, we are taking registrations for the Climbing Tower. There will be 84 available spots for the Climbing Tower on Saturday. The first 84 registered Cub Scouts to select a spot during registration will be able to climb! To register click the "Select Activities" button after entering the Scout's personal information. Only available for online registrations. No siblings please - only registered Cub Scouts. 

FULL! Planetarium Show: Challenger Learning Center will be doing Ancient Greek and Roman Constellation shows in their Inflatable Planetarium on Saturday in the Turner Building! You must reserve your show time during online registration. To register click the "Select Activities" button after entering the participant's personal information. The experience consists of a 20 minute planetarium show followed by a craft project. Shows will be scheduled every 30 minutes starting at 10 am until 4:30 pm and space is limited to 20 people per show. Both youth and adults may participate, but all participants must preregister online during registration.

Halloween Costumes: Spook-O-Ree attendees are encouraged to wear their (Scouting appropriate) Halloween costumes on Saturday!! We will have a costume parade (with treats along the way!) Saturday evening. We will meet at the parade field (in front of the Dining Hall) at 7 pm and march past the Trading Post to the Council Ring for a dance party followed by a campfire.

Candy Donations: Attention any Troops or adult volunteers and parents attending Spook-O-Ree...please consider bringing a bag or two of candy with you on Saturday to use for the parade, and feel free to join in the fun and wear your costumes!!

Gateway Contest: there will be a scare crow gateway contest, so bring your best scare crow with you to decorate the entrance into your site.

Pancake Breakfast: there will be a $5 per person all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast provided by the OA Lodge available on Saturday morning in the Dining Hall. Please preregister during registration.

Spaghetti Dinner: there will be a $5 per person all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner offered on Saturday evening starting at 5:30 pm in the Dining Hall. All proceeds will go towards improvements at Camp Birch. Please preregister during registration.

Bobcat Bootcamp: is part of Saturday’s activities. New Scouts can get the Bobcat rank requirements done and receive their badge at a special campfire ceremony!

Trading Post: The Trading Post will be open on Saturday with treats and goodies available for purchase.

Check in: is Friday evening from 5-8 pm at the Turner Building at Camp Birch or Saturday from 8-10 am in the Camp Birch parking lot pavilion.

Friday Night

5 to 8 pm - Check in at the Turner Building

(please verify all with your unit have arrived that are checking in on Friday)

8 pm - Leader’s Meeting in the Turner Building

8:30 pm - Movie at Council Ring (weather permitting)

10:30 pm - Lights Out/Quiet Time (Units will enforce this on their own)

Saturday

8 to 10 am - Check in at the Parking Lot Pavilion

7 to 9 am - OA Pancake Breakfast in the Dining Hall ($5 per person)

8:45 am - Flag raising at the Climbing Tower

9 am to 12 pm - Open Activities

Bobcat Boot Camp every hour on the hour (10 am to 4 pm)

Climbing by preregistration ONLY

Planetarium by preregistration ONLY

(10 am first show to 4:30 pm last show; 20 minute show + craft)

11:30 am to 1:30 pm - Lunch in the Dining Hall

1 to 4:45 pm - Open Activities (back ranges close at 4 pm)

5 pm - Bobcat Ceremony on the Back Porch of the Dining Hall

5 to 7 pm - Spaghetti Dinner in Dining Hall ($5 per person)

6:30 to 7:30 pm - Scary Haunted Trail

7:30 pm - Costume Parade from Back Porch of Dining Hall to the Dance Party at the Council Ring

8 pm - Campfire at the Council Fire Ring

10:30 pm - Lights Out/Quiet Time (Units will enforce this on their own)

Sunday Morning

7 am - Gates open

10 am - All units have checked out of camp
