Northern Tier Merit Badge Trail Drive

The 2020 Northern Tier Merit Badge Trail Drive for Blue Jacket, Bullskin Trail, & Lagonda Districts will be held February 1, 15, & 29 from 7:3 0am to 12:30 pm (snow day TBA) at Northeastern High School (1480 Bowman Rd, Springfield, OH 45502). The cost is $10 per Scout if registered by Dec 31, 2019 or $15 after Dec 31. The last day to register is Jan 24, 2020. Registration must be completed online.

Additional fees: Some merit badges require additional material/kit fees. FEES ARE TO BE PAID DIRECTLY TO THE COUNSELOR AT THE FIRST CLASS. DO NOT include with Trail Drive fees.

Opening Ceremony      7:45 am (1st day – volunteers needed)

 Class #1           8:00 am            -           9:25 am

Class #2          9:30 am           -           10:55 am

Class #3          11:00 am           -           12:25 pm

Closing Ceremony       12:30 pm (last day – volunteers needed)

 Once the session is full it will close on the Council website.

Please start Blue Cards for Scouts in your Troop.
  • Please TURN-IN the BLUE CARDS to the registration table on the 1st day, along with a Self addressed envelope
  • ALL Blue Cards will be returned to the Unit Leader (call Kara Snyder if you need it sooner). We will also be keeping records online and will email each unit after the TD is completed. Please email me the SM & advancement chair’s contact info prior to TD along with a list of Scouts attending. 


  2. It is the Scout’s responsibility to complete all requirements (before/after).
  3. Additional MB time may be required for some merit badges - counselors will advise.
  4. MB Counselors are not obligated to counsel Scouts AFTER the event.
  5. Final MB standings will not be updated AFTER they are made available to Scout Masters / Unit Leaders and the Council.
  6. Every effort will be made to give each Scout his preferred choice of classes, but REMEMBER FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.
  7. We will try to place Scouts in sessions with their Troop members, if possible.
  8.  Merit badge books will be available at Trail Drive for $5 each. 
Merit Badge classes with Pre-Requirements (if not listed there are no pre-req.)
  1. Cit. In Community - #3a, 4b, 7c

  2. Cit. In World- #7

  3. Communication- #5, 8 (1, 4, & 7 also suggested)

  4. Digital Tech- Must have Cyber Chip, #2a (2nd part), 3c, 4b, 5b, 6, 9

  5. Electronics- possible material fee

  6. Emerg. Preparedness- Must have 1st Aid MB by 1/31/20

  7. First Aid- Must be 1st class

  8. Gardening- $2 fee for materials

  9. Graphic Arts- please bring laptop with design software if you can 

  10. Indian Lore- $10 charge

  11. Model Design- please collect things to make your model- TP tubes, cardboard, popsicle sticks, etc. 

  12. Person Mgt.- discuss #1 with family, 2c started 9 weeks prior- aka Dec 30th

  13. Programming- Cyber Chip required, Scouts- please watch this video prior to 1st day Link 

  14. Salesmanship- 6a or 6b with notes

  15. Scholarship- signed note from parent of req. #1 & 3 completed

  16. Sculpture- $15 charge & #2c & 3

Important Information

Coffee, Tea & snacks will be available in the cafeteria for all MBC/staff.  Bring your own cups to keep the cost down. Scoutmasters/Unit Leaders/Additional adults- coffee is available for $1 per cup :) 

Troops 6 and 60 will also have snacks/drinks available for sale. 

Leader Training will also be available all 3 weeks.

  • Attendance does not mean participation.

  • Homework may be chosen to confirm active participation in some MB's.

  • Scouts turn homework in with NAME/TROOP on every page.

Walk-in’s or MB changes - it is YOUR responsibility to get on the MBC roster for that class. The cost for walk in’s is $20.
